Jasmine

Jasmine
Size: 4x12
Medium: watercolor, watercolor pencils, ink, & gouache (yay for mixed media!)
Original painting available at my etsy shop

I think this must be an act of defiance against the allergies that have been plaguing me with particular vengeance this year. I've even gone so far as to string a vine up above my desk as I painted this little piece today: some olfactory inspiration as well as visual (when I can pause to appreciate it in between sneezes).

Really though, the scent of jasmine is amazing. It is delicate without being overwhelming. Our yard is full of it, climbing across all the fences. When they bloom, it practically envelopes the entire house with a blanket of the sweet perfume. I love it.

Anyway, just a quick little piece today. Playing around with watercolor pencils as well as some other random paints and things I found tucked away in a box.

  2. I love the swirl of blue/green/purples. It's calming, and would make for a perfect piece to meditate on.
